Heartwarming Moment: Blind and Deaf Dog's Delight as He Senses Dad's Return
A heartwarming video capturing the excited and joyful reaction of a deaf and blind dog upon sensing his dad's presence has taken the internet by storm on TikTok.
Samantha Linsky, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, shares a special bond with her beloved mixed-breed dog, Morty, who usually becomes animated when he senses anyone nearby. However, Morty's excitement for others pales in comparison to the sheer joy he exhibits when his dad arrives home.
According to Linsky, whenever Morty catches a whiff of his dad, he "leaps a foot in the air" in sheer exuberance, barely able to contain his excitement.

"Morty was born deaf and blind, but he adores his dad and becomes ecstatic when he smells him," Linsky said. "While he gets excited to see other people, like me and our friends, his dad holds a special place in his heart."
"He's an incredibly happy dog, unaware of his differences. Morty is adventurous, funny, and with a few accommodations, anyone can provide a loving home for a special needs dog."
Although Morty's deafness and blindness pose challenges, his sense of smell remains as sharp as ever. Dogs primarily understand and interpret the world around them through scent, and VCA Animal Hospitals explain that they possess over 100 million sensory receptors in their nasal cavity.
In contrast, humans have approximately 6 million receptors in their nasal cavity, suggesting that dogs' sense of smell surpasses ours by a factor of 1,000 to 10,000.
Fortunately for Morty, dogs don't rely on sight alone to recognize individuals. VCA Animal Hospitals note that every person has a distinct scent, allowing dogs to identify them. Consequently, dogs likely adapt more easily to visual impairments compared to humans.
On July 6, Linsky shared the heartwarming video of Morty's sheer delight upon sensing his dad's presence on her TikTok account (@echobadlistener). Since the clip of Morty's endearing excitement was posted, it has garnered over 34,000 views and received more than 2,000 likes within a few days.
Linsky is thrilled with the overwhelmingly positive response the video has received online. Through sharing Morty's playful moments regularly, she aims to showcase the love and joy a disabled dog can bring and emphasize that they are no different from other dogs in many ways.
She expressed, "The support and encouragement Morty has received on social media are truly heartwarming. It brings me immense joy to see people loving him for who he is."
Numerous TikTok users commented on the viral video, praising Morty's unwavering affection for his dad. One viewer admired the "pure happiness" displayed, while another urged Morty's dad to stop whatever he was doing and shower the pup with love.
One TikTok user even likened Morty to a "world-class gymnast."
